Hello everybody the time has finally come. This is the last post for the blog and I would like to say it has been one heck of a ride from the beginning of this project I have only reached the beginning of what I want to do with music. What I Have LearnedDuring the course of this project I have learned so much about music theory, the composition of music, and the basis on how to play piano. I have struggled for so long with learning how to play the piano, but this project make me more eager to learn how to play. I can finally play with both of my hands pretty fluently and I learned a lot about how music is written. An example being keys; I know now that keys are the foundation of any song writing abilities. Without the prior knowledge of keys your music will just sound dirty and trashy. Future GoalsI plan on giving my knowledge in the future with teaching. I plan on going to middle schools regularly during exams and while I am in college to help spread my knowledge of music, and to help any other youngsters looking to compose and make music. With this project I just wanted to be able to show that music can come across to anyone even if you don't think that you are able. It just takes a will to learn, practice, and to make music. Anyways, I plan on continuing with this and not just making it a twelve week period. I believe that music is endless because it is always changing and evolving. ClosingWell I hope you enjoyed my blog I hope you learned a thing or two about music and the will to learn more about what you are passionate about. I have one of the instrumentals linked down below, so you should check it out. This one is from GarageBand and I plan on releasing the FL studios version at my final presentation. Thanks for tuning in to my blog posts and happy holidays!

Hello, ladies and pigs I hope you all have a great week! I have had a great week so far in general. With all the snow and music I have been making lately, it has been helping me get through this semi stressful school year. With that I am sad to say that this blog is close to being over with this being an 11 week process. What Have I Been Doing With Piano?I have been working on just normal stuff, like random songs, etc. I just so happened to come across the idea that I need to look at more classical pieces to start messing around with. All these mainstream songs are good and all and they can surely make people think you actually know how to play, but I want a little more than that. I want to hit the roots of piano and work myself backwards. Reverse Engineering MusicMy drum teacher once told me "when you freestyle record it and half speed it and then try to write it. What you will learn from that will be insane because you understand more of what music looks like on paper instead of just by ear." Which that in itself deserves to be taught anywhere to people looking to increase their skills with playing and reading music. With piano this can be extremely useful because when you listen back and try to write out what you play, you can have a better understanding of the note you are playing. Which can help your pitch. Why Pitch Important?Having perfect pitch can help your musical ability tremendously because if a note is played you will know what it is. This helps you know when you are flat or sharp, and can help you tune to a certain note. From a creative standpoint it can help if you hear something that you like and you want to imitate it because you think you could make something better out of it. Which happens a lot in modern day music, with sampling past records and such. ClosingThe instrumentals are officially done and I plan on releasing them next week because I'm still mixing one of them. Anyways, next week will be the final and best post, so I suggest you stay tuned for the heat I am about to bring. Thank you for tuning into my blog post and stay safe in the snow now!
Greetings everyone! I hope your week went well. I had a rather good week music wise I got a gig to go back up to Windy Gap in the mountains to play drums for the weekend which is fun. I also have made a lot of instrumentals the last week, but I'm still working on the instrumentals I promised for this project. Instrumental MakingThe instrumentals I have been working on for this project are gonna be around a minute thirty seconds of pure melodic beats. Which is quite fun because I believe that melodies should be a key point in which an artist can build their song around. A lot of music today relies on basslines to carry a song which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it lowers the quality of music because any random artist can hop on a song and have a cool 808 bassline and it can be a hit, even if the artist isn't very talented. Piano UpdateThe skills I have learned with piano are really starting to help me out with making instrumentals. The more I have learned the piano, the better I have become with music theory and the development of songs. Which helps a lot because when you can hear songs and play them by ear it gives you good practice by imitating what big named producers do. Piano is also just a lot of fun to play, I would totally recommend anyone who is wanting to learn a new instrument to learn piano. It is the essential foundation to everything music because it has every single note and all of the chords. Not to mention you get crazy respect by people who know nothing about music for playing something simple. ClosingThis week I do have a snippet of Carrol of The Bells, just to get you more annoyed by Christmas music. I also have a few Ideas for the songs on the next two blog posts, so stay tuned for that. The instrumentals may be released this upcoming blog post too, so stay tuned for that. I just want to make sure the instrumentals are locked and loaded before dropping them for y'all, but anyways ima put the snippet below for y'all to check out. Anyways, thanks for tuning in and have a great week! HELLO everyone I hope your Thanksgiving was amazing and that you could get all the food you could want in one sitting. During the break I relaxed and thought about ideas about what else I should do with this project. I thought about showing more music theory stuff, but that would be boring. I think one thing I want to do is make an instrumental with my production software before this project is over using the knowledge I have learned while taking piano lessons. What Kind of Knowledge You Say?What I have learned with piano is that all songs have a key such as C,G,F, and etc. That right there is very essential to making any type of music, otherwise it is going to sound super funky and trashy. I have also learned just basic stuff like how to play with both hands, which can really help in a music setting because you can play a bassline with your left hand while you play a melody or countermelody with your right. Piano UpdateWell, like I said in piano lessons I have learned how to play with both hands which enables me to play with both the bassline and melodies. Learning music and sight reading are getting a lot easier for me now a days, not perfect, but we're getting there. I would also like to say that the learning curve is almost under the bridge, so I am gonna be cranking out some more videos for y'all soon. I have plans to play some Christmas songs next week cause it tis the season! ClosingWell, that's it for this weeks blog posts, but I am gonna get on the grind for these beats. I also may do two, one professional software, and one on a free software like Garageband just to show you don't need a lot of money to showcase your skills. Its not really related towards my project, but I think it'll be fun for the both of us. I also plan to release two more songs soon, so stay tuned and have a great week!
Greetings to everyone reading in on the weekly updates with piano, I hope your week has been fantastic. My week for the most part has been a really good one. In Wind Ensemble we have been playing our new tunes for our winter concert. With some pieces such as a Russian Christmas and Jingle bells, but the good Wind Ensemble version which I am quite excited about because I love playing it. Piano StuffI have been running around jamming with a few friends over the past week by just chilling with friend making music. By just sitting and playing with others who are better than me I seem to learn a lot more stuff about piano and how simple it can be, until I play on the keyboard. Especially when you get around people who can really play well it can be an eye opener which is a really good thing to be honest. Being knocked down a bit in confidence can make you push harder to get better at what you want to achieve, well for me at least. Drums to PianoGoing off a little from what I said in the last paragraph I have learned a lot in the music work from people who are way better than me. A prime example would be my drum teacher Matt who is a God on drums and kinda knocked me off my pedestal when I first started when I first started working with him back in 6th grade. That translates over to piano with my teacher Tonya who is a God on piano and makes things flow and sound so pretty and melodic, but it makes me want to try harder to get to the position I want to be at. I also encourage anyone reading this to not be closed to new ideas and ways of learning something new even if it means losing some confidence. ClosingI will try to have a video set and made for next weeks post. Sorry I haven't been able to post one lately, but I think I can snuggle one in this week because I'm not going to be so busy. Anyways, thanks for tuning in and I hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
Hola everyone I hope your week was amazing and I hope the beginning of the holiday season has been a fun one! Anyways I have heard nothing but Christmas music for this past week and because of that it makes me want to play nothing but Christmas songs. I'll give y'all some examples. Some of the songs I have been playing have been carol of the bells, jingle bells like you saw in last weeks post, and we wish you a marry Christmas. My progress has been based off of the amount of free time I have and lately I have had a lot of free time to blow. With that free time I have chosen to work on my skills with piano. I am getting to the point where I am very comfortable with playing with my left hand, which has helped me a lot with my playing with harder pieces I have been playing. Piano has been eye opening so far by showing me that is actually a pretty hard thing to get used to. I have mad respect for people who can play the piano for a living. I have been showing some of my skills to my father and even he can tell I am improving a lot with my piano game. My teacher has also been talking about how much I am improving with this whole piano game, which makes me really happy because I walked into this project with the idea of me becoming decent at piano, but I think I can make it much more than that because my piano learning has made me a better musician and a better sight reader, Anyways that's this weeks story and I hope the piano knowledge has been interesting so far. Have a great week and a safe one!
Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen I hope you all had a happy and safe Halloween! This week the idea came to me to start expanding my key game. By that I mean G,F,E,D,B,A to my hand positioning's. So far I have only worked on my G,B,C by practicing songs that requires me to play with them. I have realized since doing this project that piano sure is not an easy thing to become good at. Which is wild to me because some people are literally born with a piano in their hands and can shred on it by the age of five. While I'm over here, struggling at the age of sixteen, but anyways I'm making some pretty impressive process on the piano. To me at least. When I first started I had a lot of trouble reading music on the treble and bass clefs, but now since I have been working with my teacher my skills are only improving. I have also realized that learning how to play the piano is mostly understanding what you are doing first. Things that you need to understand are scales/keys and once you get that down, playing becomes a lot more easy. An easy way to learn how to play the piano for me at least is to just sit down and mess around with some of your favorite songs. Lately I've had a lot of fun messing around with festive songs which are getting me in the spirit for the holiday season. Which also makes me excited for my Christmas band concert and all the parades I am going to be playing in this year. In the future with this blog I would like to take it in an interesting direction by adding more layers to the piano. I also play the drums and I like producing music so I think sometime soon I'm going to drop some crazy collages of instruments for y'all. Anyways that's all I have to say for this weeks post, I hope y'all have a great and safe week! Enjoy this festive post in honor of the holiday season! Hello, ladies and gentleman I hope your week was great! This week I got back into the routine of beat making. With that, I'm using a lot of what I learned from piano lessons into making beats. Most of what I like to use are intervals which are spaces between keys and chords. Almost every song you listen to has these elements in them and to me that's extremely interesting, but I am also just a music geek, so I have an excuse. This week trouble struck as my piano teacher would not pick up her phone to confirm my lesson for that day. Which is kind of a problem, due mostly to the fact that she is my mentor for this whole project. This week I did a good bit of practicing with my righthand mostly. I want to get it good, so I can get melodies down and whatnot. Which is my biggest problem right now, is being able to do all the crazy things songs require me to do when I go out of my comfort zone with keys outside of the 1,2,3,4, and 5. This next week I plan on making some adjustments to my practice time, because I feel like I am not getting enough time to play and I feel like if I actually manage my time to practice I may get a lot better. I plan on making time for thirty minutes every day after school of just me working straight out of the book, but anyways until next time! I got some cool stuff coming!
Hello, I hope you have had a great day and I'd like to tell you a little about my week and why I can't put out a movie song video. This week I have been kind of halted with my practice time due to a band concert and all of the amounts of practice I have been doing with the marching band. Not to mention homework is one of my biggest issues currently, but I can tell you something I have been working on with the piano. I have been working a lot more with my left hand mostly with the major chords and G7, which is the 1,2, and 5 on finger placement. With that, I want to give anyone who is reading this some tips on working with your left hand. While working with your left hand you need to first get the feel of it first by just taking apart the song by using the bottom part of the grand staff first, then doing the top part second. When you have both parts down that's when the magic is made. The piano has a huge learning curve to anyone that is completely new to the instrument, but I have gotten a little better with it through some practice. This week the one tune I would like to play for you comes from the book my piano instructor gave me Adult all in one course. This tune is entitled "Largo" and it is one that I want to break down for Y'all. Asides from that piano has been a lot of fun so far. The piano is really starting to open my eyes more and is helping me gain more respect for the piano gods on earth. One of my favorites really isn't a classical pianist, but he can really do it all. His name is Dave Brubeck who helped compose one of my favorite Jazz pieces ever, Take Five! The man made a whole album about different key signatures which I am going to explain about more in next weeks post. I plan to do a more interesting form of music theory soon, most likely next week, so stay tuned for that. Anyways here is the song I broke apart in a demonstration for the viewers, so enjoy, and have a great week! Hello comrades I hope you are having a wonderful day! So during this week while fiddling around with my keyboard/songs I seemed to see a relation between songs and key signatures such as C major and G major. These keys are in numerous hit songs that I have been messing around with. Shake it off by Taylor Swift, Good riddance by green day, All you need is love by The Beatles, and even the lazy town theme song were written in the G major key. The key of C major is mostly dominant nowadays in music in my opinion because it is the default key when opening a new project on music production software, so almost every Hip hop/pop song is written in the key of C. If you were wondering what a key is, it is a collection of pitches or a scale for musical composition. This week I have also been getting better at playing with my left hand which is unfortunate, because I could show it off in a song this week, but my phone broke Thursday night, so unfortunately I cannot record a video. In the next few weeks I promise to hit y'all with videos of some interesting movie songs, so stay tuned! Have a great night/day!
